The educational actions being carried out by the Project for the education of the children of the Muslim Minority, during the period 2017-2018, as they are described in its technical bulletin-evaluated and approved by the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs- is organized on the basis of KESPEMs (the Support Centers of the Project, operating In urban and rural areas of Thrace) and the mobile KESPEMs, the specially equipped vehicles that travel to isolated minority villages. The KESPEMs, during the school year and during the summer vacations offer:

  • Compensatory classes for primary-school kids that aim at improving children's command in Greek and their school performance. Their purpose is also to improve their self-image and enhance their motives to continue their studies in higher levels of education.
  • Tutoring support for secondary and high school pupils in the Greek Language, Literature, Mathematics and Natural sciences courses that aim at improving their level in the Greek language and enhance educational success.
  • Pedagogical and creative activities for pre-school kids that intend to familiarize them with the Greek language and prepare them for their integration into school.
  • Creative workshops for children, adolescents and young adults.
  • Greek language classes for parents of minority pupils
  • In particular, the mobile KESPEMs, are organizing classes and creative pedagogical activities for pre-school kids and students of primary education. The classes are based on alternative teaching approaches and aim at enhancing children's knowledge of the Greek language and their relation to education and learning.

Meanwhile, the Project is organizing in few primary schools, after the regular school day, compensatory classes that intend to improve children's command in Greek language and their self image and also developing social skills.

Finally, is organizing training for teachers of primary and secondary education, associates of the Project. The training focuses on improving teaching practices, familiarizing with differentiated teaching and with the educational materials that were produced in the previous phases of the Program but also with methods of successfully managing the cultural heterogeneity of pupils.
